"One Missing Link" Helps Family of Missing Willard Couple

"One Missing Link" Helps Family of Missing Willard Couple
By Kevin Schwaller

(Willard, MO) -- A husband and wife from Willard, Missouri are still missing and now a woman who has first-hand knowledge of missing persons is stepping up to help.

The Greene County Sheriff's Department says Russell (Rusty) Porter and his wife, Rebecca, disappeared Sunday from their home off Highway HH east of Willard.

Investigators consider the disappearances to be suspicious.

Family members tell KOLR/KSFX there was a smell of bleach inside the home and security cameras were tampered with.

Now, family of the Porters have teamed up with Janis McCall and the organization "One Missing Link" to get the word out about the disappearance.

McCall is the mother of Stacey McCall who went missing nearly two decades ago.

Dozens of family members and friends gathered Wednesday to canvass the Ozarks.

The group began distributing flyers and hanging up missing-person posters notifying the public of the disappearance.

Those flyers reached as far as Branson, Joplin, and even parts of Oklahoma.

"They don't know which way to go, so we're telling them where to search, where to put up the fliers," McCall says. "To not put them outside because they're just going to get rained on, I understand.  So we put them inside buildings. So inside restaurants, hotels and things like that."

"We're doing everything we can to find them," says Marietta Porter, Rebecca's sister.

"We put them inside buildings, go inside to restuarants and hotels and things like that," says McCall. "Anytime someone's missing, getting their pictures and posters out is the most important thing that's what brings them home."

Volunteers hang the flyers with thoughts that maybe this one will be the one that brings the couple home.

But hanging the pictures can also be painful. Back at the home, detectives continued their investigation.

They stayed out late into the night Tuesday and came back early in the morning Wednesday.

On the third full day since anyone has seen the couple, questions still plague Becky Porter's family.

"We just didn't expect this in our family, didn't expect it," she says. "But we're hoping for the best, that's all we can do, just stand and believe that everything will turn out okay."

Rebecca (Becky) Porter is a white, female, age 46, 5'07" tall, 140 lbs, blonde hair, blue eyes, tanned complexion, wearing pajamas or khaki pants and a yellow shirt with "Fantastic Caverns" imprint.

Russell (Rusty) Porter is a white, male, age 34, 6'2" tall, 180 lbs, brown hair, blue eyes, and facial hair, wearing blue nylon sweat pants and red or blue t-shirt.

Anyone seeing the missing persons, or anyone having any information related to the endangered missing person should immediately dial 911 to contact the nearest law enforcement agency or call the Greene County Sheriff's Office at 417-868-4040.
