Jailed Boyfriend of Missing Pittsburgh Woman Not Cooperating
Authorities in southwestern Pennsylvania trying to locate a missing 19-year-old woman have taken her boyfriend into custody on an unrelated charge and say he has been uncooperative with their investigation.
Alivia Christine Kail was last seen earlier this month preparing to leave for a trip to Florida with Alexander Lorenzi, her boyfriend.
"The boyfriend was approached by the family members and friends about the whereabouts of Alivia, and he gave some conflicting stories as to where she was located," Allegheny County Police Lt. Jeff Korczyk said during a Wednesday news conference.
Korczyk said Lorenzi, 22, allegedly told at least one person he had dropped Kail off in Mount Washington and another that she was still down in Florida.
Allegheny County police and homicide detectives executed a search warrant Wednesday on a residence Lorenzi was allegedly staying at. According to The Associated Press, Lorenzi was taken into custody after police said they found drugs and a stolen handgun inside the home. Two vehicles were reportedly towed from the residence, but police have not said why they were seized.
Authorities have not named Lorenzi a suspect or person of interest in the Kail case.
Kail was reported missing by her family on March 19. They became concerned when she did not return calls to her cellphone. Those concerns heightened when the phone was shut off for nonpayment and her boyfriend, whom she was supposed to be with in Florida, returned to the Pittsburgh area without her.
Kail had gone to Florida with Lorenzi in February and returned March 3. The following day, she visited her brother in West Mifflin and told him she was going back to Florida with Lorenzi. That was the last time anyone saw Kali, and police say it is unclear if she went back.
No posts have been made by Kail to her Facebook age since March 1, when she wrote: "I love the beach!!! I'll be home soon!!!"
When police attempted to interview Lorenzi, they were referred to an attorney. Investigators have not identified the attorney but have told local media outlets that he was not helpful.
"It's like she just vanished," Korczyk told The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "Everyone is very concerned about her."

"She's out there, which I believe that she is," Kail's mother, Christine Didiano, told Pittsburgh's WTAE.
"I'd like to just hear her voice, let me know that she's OK," Didiano added. "She's my youngest. You know, she's my everything. ... Something's not right."
Didiano did not immediately reply to a request for an interview from AOL News today.
Kail is described as a white female, 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighing 110 pounds. She has sandy colored hair, green eyes and a blue flower tattoo on her hip. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call police at 412-473-1251.
